# Mobile Device Compatibility with the app

The app is available **free of charge** from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Currently, the app is **only available to download onto smartphones**, not any types of tablet.  If you search the app store on a tablet, you will not be able to find the app.

To find, download and run the app, your phone must be using a reasonably up-to-date version of the IOS or android software.

For android phones, the app can only be used with Android 6 or later, so if you can't find the app in the Google Play store, **please check that your phone is using at least Android 6** (click [HERE](https://intercom.help/care-friends/en/articles/4507317-how-do-i-know-which-android-os-operating-system-version-my-android-device-runs) to find out how)**.**

There are a small number of Android phones that are not able to support Android 6 and therefore can't use the app:

* Samsung Galaxy NOTE, NOTE 2, NOTE 3, YOUNG, CORE PRIME, ALPHA or GALAXY S
* Samsung S2, S3 or S4
* Samsung J1, JI MINI or J3

In addition, Sony phones released in or before 2015 may not support Android 6 or later.

Unfortunately, if you have one of the phones listed above, we are unable to make the app available on your phone. We can suggest using a friend or family member's phone to download the app and register.
